The imported EV handbook
The #1 question in every group: does an import work in Kuwait? Does it need an adapter? Is there warranty? What do I check before buying? Here are honest answers per brand and source — and we say "verify" when it depends.
DC fast = CCS2, home AC = Type 2. Any other port (NACS / GB-T) needs an adapter or conversion.
Most imports have no official warranty — budget for service and a trusted shop.
Usually works, but rarely with native Arabic on screen — expect English.

US import
A US Tesla is cheaper up front but ships with the NACS plug, which doesn't match Gulf CCS2 networks — you'll need adapters, and there's no local warranty. The rest works after a region transfer, but with no native Arabic.

EU import
The best Tesla import for the Gulf: native CCS2 plug matching our networks, app and maps work, and no adapter needed for fast charging. Only the local warranty is missing. Confirm it's left-hand drive (LHD).

China import
China-built (Shanghai) Tesla offers strong build quality and a competitive price, usually with CCS2 — but verify the port, software region, and account login. No local warranty.
BYD
China import
A direct-from-China BYD is cheaper than the official dealer, but the biggest risk is the Chinese GB/T port, which won't charge on Gulf CCS2 networks without verification/conversion. The DiLink UI may be Chinese, and warranty is gray-market only.
