Pick your car, trim, and wheel — get the exact size, pressure, and load rating, plus a buying recommendation tuned for EV weight and Gulf heat. 25 models, 59 wheel setups. The driver's door placard is always the final authority.
Weight: the battery adds 300–600 kg, so you need a higher load index and stronger sidewalls — a regular petrol-car tire may be underrated.
Instant torque: an electric motor delivers full torque from zero, so tires (especially rear on RWD) wear faster.
Rolling resistance: EV-specific tires are tuned for range; a generic tire can noticeably cut your range.
Noise: EVs are silent, so tire noise stands out — many EV tires include internal acoustic foam.
Gulf heat: with weight + speed + 50C summers, choose UTQG temperature rating A and check pressure more often.
XL and HL ratings: XL (Extra Load) carries more than a standard tire of the same size, and HL (High Load) carries more still — created specifically for heavy EVs. If the OEM tire is marked XL or HL, never go below it when replacing; and if your EV SUV runs over 2.5 tonnes, HL is the right call where it exists in your size.
