Freelander announced on September 3, 2026, that all 1,000 units of its limited-edition launch variant have sold out. Priced at 459,900 Chinese yuan with incentives bringing it to 449,900 yuan, this represents the most expensive Freelander 8 configuration available at launch. The brand's official global launch event will take place later that day in Beijing, where comprehensive pricing details will be disclosed.
Pre-sales commenced on August 14 with an initial price of 339,900 yuan, followed by promotional pricing adjustments announced at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 21. The model generated more than 10,000 pre-orders within 48 hours of the pre-sales window opening, though such figures typically reflect refundable deposits with no direct bearing on final delivery numbers.
The Freelander 8 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder range extender with 45.79% thermal efficiency, paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering 610 kilowatts (818 horsepower) and 813 Newton-meters of peak torque. The vehicle achieves 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds. Its CATL-supplied battery offers 60.3 kilowatt-hours of capacity, providing a CLTC-rated electric-only range of 310 kilometers. Charging from 20% to 80% requires just 12 minutes via the 800-volt platform architecture.
The cabin incorporates Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 driver-assistance system and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 chip delivering 320 TOPS of processing power. Display technology includes a 46.3-inch far-field panel, a 15.6-inch Mini LED center screen, and a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted rear display. Available configurations include five-seat and three-row six-seat layouts measuring 5,118 mm in length and 3,040 mm wheelbase.
First production units rolled off the Changshu plant assembly line in Jiangsu province on July 30, 2026. A left-hand-drive variant targeting the Middle East market is expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027.
