Li Auto announced on September 9, 2026, that the i9 flagship electric SUV will launch on September 16, with the official event beginning at 7:30 pm Beijing Time. Display vehicles will be available at stores from September 11 onwards.
The i9 Home becomes Li Auto's second model carrying the Home designation, following the Mega electric MPV. Company founder, chairman and CEO Li Xiang characterized the i9 as a "luxury city-center apartment" compared to the Mega's suburban villa positioning, emphasizing space efficiency, views and comfort. He stated on Weibo that no comparable vehicle exists globally, yet the world needs one.
According to July regulatory filings, the i9 is a six-seat SUV measuring 5,225 mm in length with a 3,168 mm wheelbase, making it Li Auto's largest SUV. This surpasses the i8 (5,085 mm overall length), which sits lower in the lineup. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain combines 150 kilowatts at the front axle and 250 kilowatts at the rear, totaling 400 kilowatts.
Initial production vehicles will feature 5C ternary lithium batteries from CATL, transitioning to internally-developed batteries as in-house production scales. Li Auto clarified that the company develops and manufactures battery packs while partners handle cell manufacturing, with the automaker defining product specifications, performance standards and system integration.
