The United States Labor Day season prompted major automakers to launch aggressive incentive campaigns to clear 2026 inventory and make room for incoming 2027 models. Hyundai's IONIQ 5 promotion offered savings up to $5,500 or zero-percent financing for 60 days plus 90 days with no payments. Monthly leasing started at $309 for the SE trim (24-month agreement), while the SE RWD variant offering up to 318 miles of range cost $319 monthly.
Toyota introduced its redesignated bZ electric SUV (previously bZ4X) featuring an improved driving range of 314 miles and an integrated NACS charging port. Lease offerings began at $439 monthly for 36 months ($4,970 due at signing) or 1.9% APR financing extended over 72 months.
The IONIQ 5 ranked third in first-half 2026 EV sales with an 8% increase, while the bZ achieved fourth position. Both vehicles priced near $35,000 base pricing, positioning them among the most accessible electric SUVs in the market. Hyundai's promotional period concluded September 8, while Toyota's incentives extended through September 30.
