Xpeng Sets September 17 Launch for G9L Flagship SUV in China
Xpeng will launch its five-seat G9L flagship SUV in China on September 17, 2026. Pre-sales commenced on August 11 at a starting price of 259,800 yuan, with the vehicle available in battery electric and extended-range electric versions.
Xpeng announced on September 14, 2026, the official launch date for its G9L SUV, with the launch event scheduled for 7:00 pm China time on September 17. The announcement follows the opening of pre-sales on August 11 at a starting price of 259,800 yuan ($38,380).
The G9L is available in battery electric and extended-range electric versions, both equipped with an 800-volt ultrafast charging platform as standard. The battery electric version delivers a CLTC range of up to 755 kilometers, while the extended-range version offers a CLTC electric range of 435 kilometers and a combined range of 1,602 kilometers.
The G9L forms part of Xpeng's flagship SUV lineup alongside the six-seat GX model launched in May, competing against rivals including Li Auto's Li L7 and Huawei-backed Aito M7. On September 11, Xpeng confirmed that the first batch of right-hand-drive production vehicles had completed production at its Guangzhou factory and would be shipped to Australia. The company plans to introduce the model across 64 countries and regions.
Xpeng aims to achieve single-month sales exceeding 60,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter through the G9L and other new models. The push comes as the company works to accelerate sales recovery, having delivered 243,111 vehicles during the first eight months of 2026, representing a 10.49 percent decline compared to the same period in 2025.
