BYD Sealion 08 Surpasses 12,000 Orders Within First 24 Hours of Launch

BYD unveiled the Sealion 08, a flagship SUV anchoring its Ocean lineup, on 2 September 2026. According to Zhang Zhou, sales director of BYD's Ocean division, the model achieved strong market reception from launch. The Sealion 08 comes in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations with seating for five or six passengers.

All variants incorporate BYD's Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging technology, enabling rapid recharging from 10% to 70% capacity in 5 minutes and full recharge from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. The electric variant begins at 239,900 yuan (approximately $35,500) and features a 115.072 kWh battery delivering CLTC-rated range of up to 900 kilometers for rear-wheel-drive models and 800 kilometers for all-wheel-drive variants. The plug-in hybrid version utilizes a 55.843 kWh battery, offering 400 kilometers of pure electric range and 1,650 kilometers of combined range.

Dimensions measure 5,115 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a 3,030 mm wheelbase. Interior appointments include a 17.3-inch floating central infotainment display, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 26-inch augmented-reality head-up display, and 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen descending from the roof. Premium amenities comprise a built-in refrigerator, zero-gravity seats, and a 25-speaker Devialet audio system.

Standard equipment across all Sealion 08 models includes the DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension system and God's Eye B driver assistance with God's Eye 5.0 intelligent driving system, providing comprehensive safety and convenience features for consumers.
